Production, Distribution, and Exhibition Blog Post
For the production of our final project I would like to keep it small scale. Going this route allows my team and I to be able to have more flexibility and have the freedom of producing to a niche market. With that being said it should come to no surprise we will go with a independent financing scheme. As we are only high school students anything were going to produce we would like to have control over it rather then someone else having a say in our vision because they put money into it, when it comes to this type of thing we definitely like the creative control. As for who would star in our film, it will definitely be a collaborative effort into fitting the roles. At this point in time it would be me and my friends in class and outside of class if needed more cast members. When we go to shoot obviously we would like to produce something that is not only our vision for the project but is visually appealing. As mentioned before we are just High School students we don't exactly having anything nicer then a iPhone camera I just hope it captures the lighting and what we intent in the best possible way.

Moving onto the Distribution of the final project. As mentioned previously we are going for that small scale production in doing so this means that will have to figure out a way to distribute and show off our vision without the help of theaters. Luckily theres so many platforms that cater to small scale media perfectly. We would most likely distribute and share the film on youtube and if were speaking even more ambitiously Vimeo, and even film festivals. If the film were to catch popularity then the proceeds would directly go back to me and my group as we independently financed the film, and we could compensate the outside actors of course. My group and I are leaning towards the digital release as its the most convenient for us and makes the most sense for what we are trying to achieve. Going through on this idea would mean that we also need to promote it. We feel it would be best to show a trailer or teasers on our instagram pages and spread through word of mouth with our family and friends at school.

Finishing off with the exhibition. As mentioned before we would be distributing our own film independently with the help of online platforms like Youtube and Vimeo. The success of the release would be based of how well we promote the film. As youtube is such a large platform just simply posting the film is essentially the same as adding a grain of sand to a beach. We want our film to stand out and by sharing it as much as possible we believe we can achieve that. If the film were to generate revenue although our group hasn't thought this far out, I would be open to dividing the proceeds to be split evenly four ways as we are producing a Independent film and most of us will take on multiple roles anyways. Before we have that to split though the platform we published to will take an average of about 45% of profits. After we have money I'd be open to giving any outside group actor compensation for helping us out. In terms of ancillary revenue to be realistic we are just a group of High School friends trying to produce something thats fun to make and quality to watch and I didn't think there was any way to actually make money off it, after doing research I saw I was wrong. YouTube has ad revenue, merchandise sales even just from friends or other classmates, and behind the scenes content along with bloopers for people that wanted to see more then just the finial cut.
