Currently I see myself headed in the direction of creating a horror movie but not for the reasons you may think. By no means is a horror film my favorite genre of movies or even a close second. However I feel that the creativity and back workings of making the film would be the most enjoyable type of movie for me to make. Besides from general production I'd like to not only enjoy what I work on but see that what I created was effective and in film making that's leaving a lasting impression on your audience. Within a horror film there's a plethora of avenues that give me the ability to achieve that. For example I could steer away from the typical plot that the "good guy" always wins and end the movie with evil trumping good, possibly leaving the audience in a state of shock by throwing that curve ball. Creating a horror film allows me to deviate from the normality's of the other genres and has a unique set of audio and visual scenes that I truthfully would have the most fun in compiling together. Creating a sense of horror to give the audience a thriller horror type movie is a goal that I could commit to as I know my objective would be to create scenes that emotionally appeal to them triggering that creeping suspenseful feeling.
Production, Distribution, and Exhibition Blog Post
For the production of our final project I would like to keep it small scale. Going this route allows my team and I to be able to have more flexibility and have the freedom of producing to a niche market. With that being said it should come to no surprise we will go with a independent financing scheme. As we are only high school students anything were going to produce we would like to have control over it rather then someone else having a say in our vision because they put money into it, when it comes to this type of thing we definitely like the creative control. As for who would star in our film, it will definitely be a collaborative effort into fitting the roles. At this point in time it would be me and my friends in class and outside of class if needed more cast members. When we go to shoot obviously we would like to produce something that is not only our vision for the project but is visually appealing.
