Media Reflection 4

Considering the responsibilities as a filmmaker I feel like there comes a time to represent certain groups of people correctly but I also feel like there are great examples when to bend that standard. When speaking on a movie like Moana, to some people its more than just a kids movie its a display of real Polynesian myths and events and even cultural and a way of life. So I feel like certain productions like that should represent groups of people correctly and not spread misinformation with ill intent. However I also love my fair share of comedic movies and personally when watching these kinds of movies that play into stereotypes and make jokes around different groups with the purpose of comedic intensions there some of the funniest movies you'll see. There comes an age where the Disney jokes just don't make you laugh anymore and movies like The Dictator bring a whole world of joy. So as I said there is definitely a time and place based on the overall goal of the movie, if its a comedic movie I believe its fun for everyone involved not just the viewers but even the production team. Where things should be a little more serious should be those representation movies. But everyone sees things differently and thats just my opinion.
