Film Analysis Part 2
For second film to analysis and that will go on to help give me a guideline or more rather a baseline / standard to produce is long legs. Now this was quite the opening scene when you compare it to my last pick "A quiet place". The approach that this film takes is much different. Starting with almost a red window into the life of a lunatic. Again I haven't actually had the chance to view this particular film however I can pick up enough from what I've seen to piece a few ideas together. The mise en scene with this film is particularly original or I should say creative. Beggining with just a red square we some a few title come up naming a few of the production companies which is important to a degree, however more intrestingly I picked up that it was followed by a short poem. Right off the bat that set the tone for the kind of film this would be, adding to the sense and feel of it as well. It was a disturbing poem to say the least but definetly set the tone on where the movie was going. It fades through a bloody red to a very white, and I mean white setting. However we see the girl is wearing bright red. I jokingly make a comment "huh it seems likes shes out of place" then it hits me thats because she is. Later on a man who is not just fully wearing white appears but even his skin is a chalky white, disturbingly. The cinematography was unique. It took on the point of view of the passanger seat of the car and focused in on the house in the begging. Sometimes I like to imagine that when it zoomed in on the house maybe we are in the persective of the man and he's daungting in on the house. Obiously the shots are giveaway, as they shoot. Its critical and useful to put peicees of the story together. The editing once again well done like a quiteplace, there was nothing out of this world nothing extra that didnt need to be there. When a film feels like raw film truely its hit a sweet spot because then it adds to that realism effect, almost making you feel like you have a window into this imaginary world. The sound was well done little dings when the camera would cut to what the girl was looking at and suspensful and ominous music wandering around . From this film I would like to focus heavily on the cinematography, as maybe I didnt mention it enough. The features and quality of the shots are something I want to impliment in my own production. I'm a heavy fan of when pov shots and that opening shot of the camera inside the car really adds another level of realism thats hard to recreate. It was well placed and well positioned, defiently notable and a key implimentation for my project.
