Preproduction Plan Blog Post

Now would be a great time to go over what kinds of materials my group and I plan on using and why we see these to be the best fit for us. Starting with the camera were not planning on anything too fancy as being in High School we do have some economical limitations. But that is completely overlooking the quality of an iPhone camera, as it already has good quality and we will just alter the settings to get the best lighting clarity. To keep the shots as steady as possible we can use a tripod or gimbal. If you've kept up with the blog you know we are aiming for the genre of crime and we plan on having a variety of lighting equipment like flashlights, and can use led desk lights to create dramatic lighting. We want to create a sense of realism as much as possible so fake crime scene elements are going to a key for success, we might use caution tape, scattered papers, and could even attempt to make fake blood to create a crime scene. Were not yet sure on the direction were going with crime if it will involve a mystery but I feel like a fake murder weapon would fit as a good prop, like a kitchen knife. Going along this train of thought things like clues would make for great props, including handwritten notes, old pictures or implementing "sign" messages. Moving onto wardrobe and costumes is going to depend on the roles we have, however like mentioned before we are striving for that sense of realism, therefore a police officer will have things like a badge and uniform, a criminal would be put into stereotype clothing like dark hoodies or mask to create an ominous hidden face affect. We may need to use an external microphone to capture audio as when recording on the iPhone shots from farther away will make the audio become difficult to hear. Most of the items I've mentioned I have at home and can borrow from my family to use for the project things like the wardrobe however may become a group expense from a thrift store to get a fitting character.

Switching to the location on where we will shoot. I feel like some dark ally way around the town of dade city would be perfect for the crime feel we are trying to get however we would need to get permission to film in this area because of the amount of store owners there are and government offices. I feel like for what we are trying to do they won't mind us filming for our small scale school project and theres always no harm in just asking. However we have already planned on shooting at a friends house not only as a backup but because it would be a corner stone scene location. I don't have any pictures of our friends house but in the attached video you can see at the end of the video the outside scenes were shot at his home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwBdnKIyRU. His home is also a convenient location for all of our group members to drive to as its not far away either.

In terms of person power to produce the film we have four group members. We've all worked together previously on a music video filmed earlier this year, also attached above. For the finial project only being two minutes I feel like we have just enough people to work together. I generally like the smaller group feel as theres not that many people so we can all collectively collaborate and bounce ideas off each other and theres also enough of us to distribute work when we need to get things done. I think the position I will be responsible for is editing the shots and compiling the project and along with taking on that role previously is that I'd also like to be a little more involved in helping and viewing the cinematographer so I can not only get an idea of what shots ill be working with later on the computer but adding in advice and my input on how I think it will come out. Aside from that I think all four of our group members will share the role of director giving our insight and making sure we all agree on what were making. I feel like we have enough people in our group of four to get everything done but once shooting time comes and we see we might need another actor we could definitely cast one of our friends and I'm sure they would be happy to help.
